Monday Ice: Heatwave

Sunday was Sjómannadagurinn (seaman's day) and people were out and about all weekend around Iceland enjoying the festivities and warm sunny days. The weather has been a continuos 15° for the past week and every one is revelling in the sunshine.  There is nearly 22 hrs of daylight and children pretty much play outside until around 11pm all psyched for their up coming long summer holidays.

15° is considered a heatwave and in Reykjavik people have flocked to the beach, which has prompted a sun exposure warning from the Health dept.

  1. We drove past your town last week and I thought of you! In fact one of the nicest places we stayed at was in the area. We also enjoyed the heatwave.

  3. I thought that might be a bit weird - I'd definitely contact you first and not just turn up in town! :)
