Monday Ice: Tongue tied!

My house should settle on the 12th or 19th August...I am pushing for the 19th as that just gives me a little more time to sort through my stuff.  The shipping agent is booked and hopefully everything I want to take with me will fit in the 20 foot container.  I don't think it will be too long before I am on my way, hopefully the Icelandic Govt will look favourably on my residency application.

So today I thought I would share with you some of the intricacy's of learning the Icelandic language. Icelandic has remained relatively unchanged since medieval times, I love the sound of the language but it is a difficult one to learn, especially if you are as old as me and your tongue is set in its ways.  The problem is that my tongue resists the gymnastics it needs to perform in order to correctly pronounce the words.  One of the first things I will do when I arrive is attend Icelandic language classes.

In this first video Alexander Arguelles presents an overview of the written and oral icelandic language.  His accent is quite funny...however I am sure mine will be hilarious!

This next video is of some common phrases in Icelandic...this girl makes it sound so easy!

Even Bambi can do it...so maybe there is hope for me!
