Grímsvötn

You may have heard as it seems to be making news around the world another eruption has occurred and the volcano Grímsvötn is causing a fair bit of havoc in the south of Iceland, all flights in and out of Reykjavik have been cancelled and only time will tell if this eruption leads to further flight delays around Europe...all depends on which way the wind blows.

If anyone is interested in more info on the eruption then the Iceland Volcano and Earthquake Blog (in English) will keep you up to date.

In case family are wondering where Sauðárkrókur is in relation to the volcano I have edited a little map for you and also have marked in the capital Reykjavik. At the moment Sauðárkrókur is not experiencing any fallout of the eruption but I will keep you posted.

And if anyone is wondering how to pronounce Grímsvötn this will help.

  2. However, ashes were coming down already on Akureyri that is only 100 km from us, so we could expect something if only some bits to use in artworks...
